Day I- Tbilisi

Arrival in Tbilisi and transfer to your hotel

Dy II: Tbilisi – Mtskheta- Kazbegi- Tbilisi(B)

A dramatic trip into the sheer landscapes of the Caucasus Mountains takes you along the Georgian Military Highway today. Running for some 220 kilometers, from Tbilisi to Vladikavkaz in Russia, this follows the old trading route through the Terek Valley. Stopping in Mtskheta, Georgia's ancient capital, you'll see the 4th century Jvari church and the impressive 12th century Svetitskoveli Cathedral, before continuing on to the fortress of Ananauri. Then it is on to the town of Kazbegi, where you'll climb to the Holy Trinity Church for some magnificent views, back to Tbilisi, Dinner at the traditional Georgian restaurant “Tsiskvili” and overnight.

Day III: Tbilisi- Kakheti region- Tbilisi (B,L)

Kakheti is the largest wine producing region of Georgia and it is just a couple of hours away from the capital, Tbilisi. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a few days of wine tours and spas without jostling among hoards of tourists.

We take a walk in the fortified town of Sighnaghi and taste local wines at a winery. Continue to visit the estate of Georgian dukes from the 19th century in Tsinandali. Visiting to Alaverdi cathedral where we can take a tour of monastery winery and taste very special wines made by monks. We’ll enjoy our lunch at a farmer’s house with home-made dishes. We will see how Georgian sweet ‘Churchkhela’ (walnuts coated in grape juice and flour) is made and Georgian bread “Shoti” is baked.

 

Day IV: Tbilisi- Kutaisi- Tbilisi(B)

In the morning after breakfast departure to Imereti Region.

Imereti – is a part of Georgia, known to the ancient world as Colchis – the land of the Golden Fleece – with Kutaisi as its capital.

Arrive in Kutaisi. Have full day exploration of the city and its surroundings: Visit two UNESCO world heritage sites: Bagrati cathedral 11th c, located in Kutaisi city center on top of the hill and Gelati Academy and monastery 12th c with beautiful mosaics inside.

Day V – Tbilisi SADAKHLO-SANAHIN-HAGHPAT-ALPHABET PARK-YEREVAN (B,L)

After breakfast drive to the border of Georgia and Armenia

Meeting and greeting at the border of Georgia and Armenia/ Sadakhlo. Trip to Lori region.

The design and scientific significance of SANAHIN MONASTERY’s architectural construction is beyond national.

Sanahin Monastery is situated on a small plateau at Debed river canyon. The exact time of its establishment is not known; however, historians' evidences prove its existence long before the 10th century, while in the 10-11 centuries the number of monks had already reached several hundreds.

Proceed to HAGHPAT MONASTERY is a medieval monastic complex located in Lori. The monastery, described as a “masterpiece of religious architecture”, is a UNESCO’s World Heritage Site.  It was a major educational center in the Middle Ages.

Transfer to Yerevan.

 

Day VI – YEREVAN CITY TOUR-EJMIATSIN-ZVARTNOTS-YEREVAN(B,L)

The capital of Armenia, founded in 782 BC, is ONE OF THE OLDEST CITIES IN THE WORLD (2797 years old). It is called "The pink city" because of the color of the stone used for building.

Yerevan is acclaimed for its excellent water, for its hospitable people and of course for the breathtaking view of Holy Mount Ararat. The sense of Ararat's presence in the city and numerous remarkable churches in Yerevan has attracted many pilgrims. Ornamented with inviting squares and splendid museums, galleries and spirited with theatres, universities, restaurants, cafes and parks Yerevan is younger than many Western capitals.  Street tour including Republic Square- one of the ten most beautiful squares of the world, Opera House, National Assembly, National Academy of Sciences, Lovers park, Cascade Complex and “Mayr Hayastan” (panoramic view of Yerevan), etc.

Visit to YEREVAN BRANDY COMPANY (brandy degustation).

Armenian brandy is the pride of Armenians: it accompanies every single wedding and celebration and its story goes back all the way to Noah.

Trip to Ejmiastsin.

Ejmiatsin Catheral (UNESCO Site) is located in the city of Ejmiatsin founded in the first half of the 2nd century (was initially named Vagharshapat). Since 1441 the city has been Armenia’s religious center. Today it is the spiritual and administrative center of the Armenian Apostolic Church, the residence of the Catholicos of All Armenians and the place, where chrism is consecrated for christening every Armenian child. The cathedral is surrounded by beautiful gardens and structures.

Tour to MEGERIAN CARPET. It has a spectacular showroom where visitors from foreign countries as well as local residents can make their purchases. Visitors and guests are welcome to watch the production of the rugs which involve dyeing of the yarns by using vegetable dyes, weaving, shearing, finishing, etc and become a part of it.

 

Day VII. YEREVAN-KHOR VIRAP-ARENI-NORAVANK-YEREVAN(B,L)

Start of the tour. Visit to Ararat Province. Trip to Vayots Dzor Province. En route- Wine degustation at Areni Wine Factory.

Visit to NORAVANK MONASTERY- included in the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage is a medieval Armenian monastery standing out not only with its appearance but also the surrounding marvelous scenery. It is believed that in the place of the monastery there used to be a sacred site. The monastery was built in the 12th century in the territory of two earlier churches.

 

Day VIII- Yerevan- Tbilisi(B)

On the way to Garni a short stop at “CHARENTS ARCH”, from where opens a breathtaking view over Ararat valley and Mount Ararat. 

GARNI TEMPLE, the only extant temple in Armenia, dating back to the era of Paganism and Hellenism. It was devoted to the pagan god of sun- "Mithra". The temple was built by Greek slaves in 76 B.C. It was the summer residence of Armenian kings over 4 centuries. 

Trip the blue pearl of Armenia- LAKE SEVAN. It is the largest lake in the region and one of the highest fresh water lakes in the world (altitude of 1,950 meters above sea level). Almost 28 rivers and streams flow into Lake Sevan but only the river Hrazdan originates from it. Sevan is famous for its different kinds of fish, particular for ishkhan, which means “princely fish”.

Transfer to Tbilisi airport. End of the tour
